It is hard to believe Steve has been watching over us for 2 yrs now.  Steve and Loretta are such a fun couple.  There was never one without the other.  Steve liked Carrot cake.  We always enjoyed going out to eat and had lots to chat about.  The last time we went out to eat we had Pizza and Beer.  Such a nice time.  

Wow...this year has gone by fast but steve and Loretta were often thought about.  It was always exciting and a great time to go out and eat with them.  Conversation was always interesting and never wanted it to end.  I still plan to go back to san Antonio for a visit.  I miss you guys lots.  

My first memory of my brother, whom I called Stee-T at the time, was of being carried around on his shoulders as a toddler and how I would  cover his eyes as I hung on and he couldn't see where he was going, bumping into furniture and laughing.  We did that a lot. He was my big brother, my only brother, and to me he was always busy doing very difficult things such as taking car engines apart, or building model cars and airplanes, or throwing a boomerang far out into the field and catching it. This was all when he was a teenager, and also when he got his first car, a big 1946  Buick two door fastback which he painted red, I think many coats of red.  When I was six in that Summer he would drive my sister, Linda, all the way to the Peabody in downtown Baltimore in his metallic blue 1958 Chevy Belair convertible, and I would ride in the open air back seat, feeling so free.  I remember the wonderful rides home on his motorcycle after a day at the pool in the late Summer afternoon; and  I can still hear him singing in the carport, his voice so clear and pure and with such a special timbre unlike any other. I loved his voice, his humor and his wisdom, and his unfailing honesty. Too many memories thru the years, but with Steve all of them good memories, the best memories. One of the last times I spoke with him he told me that when he thought of me it was of me repeatedly jumping off the porch at Sunset Pines, over fifty years ago. He told me he loved me, and I told him that I loved him, too.  
Perhaps we are still there down at the lakeside in the darkening evening, roasting marshmallows by the fire, the coolness of the encroaching Autumn in the air, and the wonder of our lives before us. 

Steve was a kind person. He loved life.  He was fun to talk with and very inelegant.   Whenever I see a Volvo today I think of him.  That's all for now.  Laura Hamil.  

On this July Fourth as we celebrate and honor our nation, it's only fitting to include Steve. To all who knew him, Steve was a brave warrior, and patriot.  But he was also a gentle soul.  A soulmate with my sister Loretta; and the love of her life!  
Steve, you blessed our family with your grace and kindness even when you didn't realize it.  And we are all richer individuals because of you.  You had a mechanical gift. You loved to 'fix cars'.  And you shared a lot of those cars with folks who otherwise wouldn't have one. Thank you for doing that. 
We miss you, Steve. We miss your smile, your quiet wisdom, and your obvious love for those around you.  Eternal peace be to you! 

my Dear sister Loretta met the great love of her life when she entered the Air Force and they soon fell in love and never that would ever end. He made her happier than I had ever known her to be.  I enjoyed just watching the fun they had together and with others. I believe Steve loved her, cherished her and was as happy as she was.  Her life is diminished greatly by his death   Mine is also.  I too loved and liked him.  He was a great guy.

Steve was a good friend who gave a good advice ,  he always had a smile on and good sense of humor .  One of the kindest people I’ve ever known.  He will definitely be missed 

Steve Morrison, you brought so much joy to Loretta, I thank you for that.  The happiest time of her life was when she was with you. Never mind the crazy collection of cars and parts, none of that matters when true love is in the heart.  And there was never any doubt about that. 
We miss you Steve – the fun times we had in Florida, my visit to Texas, sharing BBQ and puzzles, hanging out in our living room – all good times, as life should be. 
Rest in peace, my favorite brother-in-law in Texas. We miss you. 


For my dear brother and for all those who loved him, a memory of his beautiful voice and his singing.  When we were young, we slept in an old Army bunk bed in the attic of our house, he on the lower bunk, I above, and he would always sing us to sleep.  It seemed as though he was always singing in those days, even at the dinner table.  So often even there, that our mother issued a 'rule'  that there was to be 'no singing at the table!'   What a clear baritone with lovely tenor qualities his voice developed in his teens, and he enjoyed singing with a little group of friends for special events. Even his speaking voice was a natural gift and expressed his sweet, generous nature perfectly.  Farewell, my lovely brother, how you are missed !            Your loving sister,        Linda

I have such a strong memory of Uncle Steve and Cousin Brian working on cars in the carport at Nana and Grandpa's.  They would explain all the parts of the engine and how everything worked.  I loved that they included me; even as a little girl, in their hobbies.  I miss Uncle Steve and I enjoyed viewing all of the photos.  He lived a rich life surrounded by loved ones.  Lots of love from your family in Maryland - Alana Riches (daughter of Cynthia).
