Stephen "Steve" John Coffey was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Steve stayed strong until the end - March 16, 2022, at age 69.
He was born to John and Patricia Coffey on April 3, 1952. Steve met the love of his life, Mary Kay, at the age of 15. On September 15 of 2022 they would have celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Together, they have 2 children: Erin Grasha (Travis) and Dan Coffey (Mary); and two beautiful grandchildren: Cody Grasha and Thea Coffey.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents. He is also survived by his siblings, Frank Coffey, Stan Coffey, Christy Coffey, Colleen DiCola, Mickey Laufenberg and Pam Guinn as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Steve enjoyed keeping up with his grandchildren. He thoroughly enjoyed watching Cody play high school football and compete in weightlifting. He also enjoyed his special visits with Thea, hearing about her adventures at Pre-School and watching her grow every day.
He loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for his family. Most days were spent outdoors on his back patio where he would be cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers, San Antonio Spurs, the Minnesota Vikings or watching old western movies.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1 pm on April 2, 2022, at the Porter Loring Chapel on the corner of Loop 1604 and Gold Canyon in San Antonio. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the WellMed Charitable Foundation on his behalf. https://www.wellmedcharitablefoundation.org/
