Sarah L Ross, age 71, went to be with her Lord on June 3rd, 2013. She was born September 9, 1941 in Fort Worth, TX. Sarah met her beloved and devoted husband, Bobby Ross, in 1958 when they were both sophomores at Harlandale High School. They married on June 18, 1960, just two weeks after their graduation. They enjoyed almost 56 years of mutual respect and adoration. Together they lovingly raised three children. Sarah helped her husband found and operate Ross Electric Company where she was affectionately known as "Mama Ross" by all of the employees. Sarah was multi-talented creating many types of arts and crafts, including pottery, stained glass, scrapbooks, crochet and needlepoint, which she generously shared with all her friends. Sarah loved her family above all else and put her time and energy into sharing their lives and making each one feel how genuinely special they were to her. She was a voracious reader and educated herself on an array of subjects. Her family and friends would attest that she was quick witted and never one to mince words. Her dead-pan, straight forward manner was always a source of entertainment to family. Sarah was an easy person to talk to and could make a friend of a stranger in minutes. Her stories and memories will be carried on through family and friends for many years.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents Maurine and Amadeo Tinajero and her daughter, Kay Lynn Ross Puente.
She is survived by her husband Bobby Ross; son Kyle and daughter-in-law Katie Ross; daughter Karrie Pennebaker and son-in-law Doug Pennebaker; grandchildren Lindsay Ross, Bailey Landrum, Kyle Prine, Garrett and Elliott Pennebaker; and her sisters Elizabeth Webb and Della Stalbird, as well as multiple nieces and nephews.
Sarah loved animals and supported many animal shelters, and spay and neuter programs. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her name to the Animal Charity of your choice.
Services will be held at Sunset Funeral Home on Austin Highway at 2 pm on Saturday June 8, 2013.
