Sandra M. Muenchow

Sandra Mary Muenchow of San Antonio, TX passed away on January 10, 2023 at the age of 80. She was raised on the family ranch in Encinal, TX and attended Catulla HS graduating valedictorian. Sandra went on to the College of the Incarnate Word majoring in chemistry. She worked at Lone Star Brewery as a bacteriologist for 24 years, where she met her husband Herman, of 36 years. Sandra was an avid reader and gardener, lover of birds and wildlife, and was a woman of faith. She had a generous heart, supporting many organizations and causes. She was proceeded in death by her parents John and Edna Nieschwietz, her husband Herman Muenchow, sister Diane (Bob) Phelps, nephew Alan Nieschwietz and granddaughter Lisa Surritt. She is survived by her brother John Nieschweitz, Jr. (Nancy), step children Garry Muenchow, Deborah Duff, Glen Muenchow, Gerald Muenchow, nephews John Nieschwietz, III (daughter Callie), Christopher Nieschwietz, grandchildren Jeffrey Muenchow (Crystal), Mandy Muenchow and William Smith along with 7 great grandchildren. She will be missed by her family, neighbors and friends. Heaven gained an angel in her passing while Herman got his polka partner back.

We would like to thank her hospice caregivers at Guiding Light and Promises Senior Solutions for their loving manner and gentle ways during this difficult time. They were heaven sent.

Visitation will be at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas on January 18, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with Rosary to follow. A Memorial Mass will be at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3303 Urban Crest Dr., San Antonio on January 19, 2023 at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio.
