Coleman when she was born on March 8, 1954 in Atlanta, GA. Her brother and
sister happily welcomed that sweet little bundle. She departed this life on
May 14, 2014 in San Antonio, TX.
Sadie received her early education at Berean Junior Academy, now known as
Berean Academy, in Atlanta, GA. She was a bright student who also graduated
from Southwest High School, in Atlanta, where she was a member of the
band. Sadie continued her studies as a pre-med student at Emory University,
Decatur, GA, graduating in 1976. In 1982, she received the Doctor of Medicine
degree from George Washington University, Washington, DC. She honorably
served her country in the U.S. Air Force, achieving the rank of Major.
Sadie was baptized into Berean Seventh-day-Adventist Church in Atlanta, and for
the past several years, she had been a very active member of the
Fil-Am International Seventh-dayAdventist Church in San Antonio, TX. She was a skilled physician at Texas Med Clinics of San Antonio for many years.
Among her talents, she played the guitar and clarinet well, occasionally
accompanying soloists at weddings and other events. She loved sports, especially her San Antonio Spurs, and often played touch football with her brother and his
friends when she was a youngster.
Sadie was well liked and loved; she touched countless lives with her unselfish
spirit, and was so devoted to her Mama. To cherish her memory are her loving family: mother, Lillian N. Coleman; brother, James (Karen) O. Coleman III;
sister, Ruth (Phillip) Coleman Marsh; aunt, Janie (Henry) James; uncle, George
(Beth) Nealey; aunt, Ruby Coleman Campbell; nephew, Phillip A. Marsh II; niece,
Donna L. Coleman; nephew, Brian (Quetta) L. Marsh; great nephews,
Elan Holmes-Marsh, Micheal Holmes, William Leggett, Jr., Kenneth Leggett;
a host of cousins, other relatives and special friends, Mario and Deborah Trevino, and son, Stephen. She was preceded in death by her father.
The family will receive guests from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers. The family will receive guests Friday, May 23, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon at Fil-Am International Seventh-day Adventist Church, 9190 Abe Lincoln, (78240) with a Funeral Service being held at 12:00 Noon.
