Ruth M. Colley

Ruth Elizabeth Maynard Colley died at the age of 80 on March 17, 2011 in San Antonio , TX . Her memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on March 25, 2011 at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church , 722 Robinhood Place , San Antonio , TX . Services will be officiated by Pastor Mike Cave .

Ruth was born in Plainview , TX on March 12, 1931 to Lillian Elizabeth and John Tee Maynard. She graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1948. She later attended and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University . Ruth taught typing, shorthand, keyboarding and business at Judson High School . She retired in 1997 after 30 years of dedicated service.

Ruth was very active at her church, St. Andrew’s United Methodist, volunteering for the Wesley Community Center and delivering meals on wheels. She enjoyed making Christmas special for needy families and sponsored several families each year. Ruth had an untiring spirit to serve others which led her to travel to help flood victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Ruth exhibited Christ’s love to all who met her.

Ruth is survived by her siblings: Johnny Maynard, Carl Maynard and Vivian Maynard O’Neil, her daughters: Marilyn Colley Gayle, Carolyn Colley and Patricia Colley, her grandchildren: Audrey Trevino, F. Morgan Colley, Charles Bryant, Hannah Gayle, and Colin Bryant, and her great-grandchildren: Isaac and Madeline Trevino. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Eugene Maynard and Roy Maynard, Sr.
