Rudy P. Martinez, Jr. accepted the invitation to go home July 17, 2014 at the age of 76. A native to San Antonio, he was born on April 29, 1938. Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, Rodolfo and Mercedes Martinez, Sr. and a brother and sister who died in infancy. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Micaela L. Martinez, his two children, Roxanne DeHoyos (Michael), Rudy Martinez (Linda), grandchildren Rudy Andrew Martinez (Alice), Paul and Analisa Marin, Jay Anthony Martinez (girlfriend Christina), Joshua Alberto Martinez, Elizabeth Cardenas, great-grandchildren, Israel Martinez, Zoe Ramos and Karis Cardenas, siblings, Ana Trevino, Sylvia De Anda (Joe), Irene Medina (Mario), Beatrice Gonzales (Edmund), Rachel Martinez (Ray), Edward Martinez (Rose), Danny Martinez, numerous nieces, nephews and family. Rudy retired from Kelly AFB after 28 years of dedicated service and joined the custodial department at UTSA downtown campus from 2003 to 2008. Rudy is a veteran of the US Army. The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude for the constant care and dedication given by Legacy Hospice and most especially to Rudy Andrew Martinez for being his grandfather’s caregiver. In lieu of flowers envelopes will be provided for donations to be made to the ARC of San Antonio; Pam Stevens Center parents group. In honor of his disabled adult grandchildren, Paul and Analisa Marin. A visitation will begin, Thursday, July 24, 2014, 12:00 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A procession will depart the funeral home, Friday, July 25, 2014 at 8:45 a.m. for a 9:15 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.Arrangements under the direction of Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, San Antonio, TX.
