Born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, he was the son of Epifanio and Elena H. Martinez. He attended Sydney Lanier High School, graduated in 1961. He was employed by RC Cola for 8 years and then worked at Via Transit for 30 years and retired from the transit company.
He was a member of Los Clasicos Alumni of Sydney Lanier. He enjoyed going on cruises, taking trips with friends around Texas, having long therapeutic sessions with his friends, going to luncheons with Los Clasicos and attending as many family gatherings as possible. He will be remembered for his Sargent Carter Look, his Jimmy Johnson hairstyle, and his sharp dress style.
He is survived by his wife, Esther R. Martinez, daughters Sandra/Ismael Barrera, Annie Perez, and Trisha/Steve Ballard. Brothers Robert/Carmen Martinez, Ignacio/Irene Martinez, and Armando/Betty Martinez. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
The funeral service will be held on June 16, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church at 210 St. Ann’s Street with the interment at the San Fernando #2 Cemetery. The viewing will be held on June 15, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Angeles Roy Akers Funeral and rosary at 7:00 p.m.
