Ruben graduated from Southside High School, Class of 1973 after graduating he worked at Friedrich Air Condtions Co. for 36 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Higinio and Maria Estella Martinez; brother, Eduardo Longoria and nephews, Rene Estrada, Manuel Munoz Jr. and Anthony Castillo.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janie Martinez; siblings, Beatriz Castillo (John), Maria Martinez, Robert Martinez (Sara), Naomi Uriegas (Freddie), Nora Martinez and Ray Martinez (Deborah) and sister in law, Maria Longoria.
Ruben is also survived by his 3 nephews who he helped raise Frank, Steven and Edward Amador and his 11 godchildren, Tanis Bustos, Amanda Amador, Valerie Amador, Connie Gomez, Antonia Alvarado, Amber Martinez, Frank Amador Jr., Steven Uriegas, Phillip Martinez, Azrae Martinez and John Martinez.
A visitation for Ruben will be held Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 2525 Palo Alto Rd with a rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph So San Catholic Church, 535 New Laredo Hwy, with intermentto follow at First Memorial Park Cemetery.
