Ruben S. “Jimmy” Garcia, age 94, was called by the Lord on Sunday, April 10, 2022 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on November 27, 1927 to parents, Inocencio and Guadalupe S. Garcia, in Brownsville, Tx.
He married Mary L. Garcia, June 13, 1948. Jimmy worked for the city of Brownsville, Traffic Dept. for many years until he retired. He also worked for Coca Cola Bottling Co, and Braniff Airlines.
In Brownsville, he was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church; where he served as an usher and was active in their Men’s Club. He was also active in the Brownsville Nite Lions, Knights of Columbus, Charro Days Assn., Mr. Amigo Assn. and board member of The Teachers Credit Union.
In San Antonio, he was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, active in the Knights of Columbus as 3rd and 4th degree Knight and member of the ACTS community.
He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers, Eduardo Garcia and Alfonso Garcia.
Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Yolanda Solis (Juan) of San Antonio; son, Jimmy Garcia, Jr. (Marta) of Austin; son, Rick Garcia (Yvonne) of Austin; son, Michael Garcia of San Antonio; grandchildren, Casandra Solis, Jennifer Solis Fielder, Andy Garcia, Rebekah Garcia Hofberg (Sam), Ricky Garcia (Angie), Elizabeth Garcia; 6 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jimmy loved life, had a quick wit, and danced whenever he heard music.
The family thanks Caring Senior Services and Concho Hearts Hospice for their support, kindness and compassion in the care of our beloved father.
A Rosary will be recited on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 9:30 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 8134 Blanco Road, San Antonio, TX 78216, with a Mass to follow at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
