Roy Norman Stewart passed away on December 18, 2014 at the age of 93. He was born in Olney, Texas to Lovick & Ida Stewart. He was raised on a farm with his five siblings. Roy served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. While in the service he met his sweet wife of 68 years, Viola Macha, on a blind date. Roy loved the grocery business since the time he was a teenager. He started at Piggly Wiggly as a teen and retired after 28 years with H.E.B. in 1985.
Roy was a member of Cornerstone Church, he was a devoted husband and father; his love for our Lord shone through in his daily life. To know him was to love him.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Stewart, his parents and his siblings.
He is survived by his loving wife, three daughters, Carol and husband Gary Putnam, Susan and husband Mark Jackley and Tricia and husband Tommy Howell; seven grandchildren, John and wife Megan Putnam, Steven and wife Michelle Jackley, Justin Jackley, Lauren and husband JT Martin, Amber and husband Brad Hodgson, Sarah Howell, Tommy and wife Peyton Howell; and five great-grandchildren, Kaylee Putnam, Caiden Putnam, Cami Jackley, Elli Jackley and Lowe Hodgson. His family would like to give a special thank you to the aides and nurses at Esplanade Gardens and to the nurses and caretakers at Encompass Hospice.
Visitation will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 22, 2014 followed by a 3:00 p.m. Funeral Service at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Rev. John C. Hagee officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
