Roxann Virginia Clark Welshans, was born August 3, 1942 in the little coal mining community of Plum Run, Ohio. Her home was one of the company houses and her first four grades of school were in the same room, taught by the same teacher. The school house would later become the church building where she first learned about Jesus. During her last year at Smithfield High School, where she was May Queen, she received a full paid scholarship to the Ohio Valley Hospital School of Nursing in Steubenville, Ohio. Just prior to graduation she married Vernon and that fall she moved to the little resort community of Montezuma, Ohio, where Vernon was ministering. On a cold, snowing night in January, 1964, God presented them with their first son Joel William. Their next ministry would take them to Baker, LA, just north of Baton Rouge. Now it was time for their second son to be born whom they named Timothy Dwight in honor of Roxann's father. It was while working at the Lane Memorial Hospital in Zachary, LA that their daughter Irene Renee joined the family circle. Accompanying Vernon in his various ministries gave Roxann the opportunity to practice nursing in OH, LA & finally TX. Here in San Antonio she spent some 28 years working at St Luke's Hospital (Now St Luke's Baptist), serving on medical, pherises and infection control. After her retirement, she took pleasure in spending countless hours in her craft room where designed 1000's of cards which she was quick to share with others. After a slight stroke a few years ago, she has been in declining health ever since. During the early morning hours of October 31, 2022, at the age of 80, she "fell asleep" in Jesus. May she rest in peace till we join her on the other side. Roxann was preceded in death by her parents, Dwight & Irene Clark & by her son Timothy Dwight Welshans. She is survived by her husband Vernon; son Joel Welshans & his wife Kristi; daughter Renee Dicus & her husband Bruce; brother Russell Clark & his wife Mary Ann; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; & many friends.
