Ross A. Flaherty was born in Floydada, TX on May 12, 1938, one of three children born to Irene Colston and A.S. Flaherty. Ross was called home to our Lord on November 5, 2012. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Wayne Flaherty, Tulsa, OK. He is survived by his long time, loving companion, Evelyn Jackson, San Antonio; son, David W. Flaherty and wife, Gena of Windom, TX, Brad Jackson and Amy Jackson of San Antonio; granddaughters, Anna and Jessi Flaherty of Windom, TX; sister, Georgia Anne Best of Tucson, AZ. An extremely bright man, Ross championed education. He graduated with a BA from Tulsa University in Oklahoma and an MBA and Doctorate in Finance from Oklahoma State University. Ross began working in the oil industry after graduation, became a CPA and went on to spend a lifelong career in education, retiring from Texas Wesleyan University in 1996 to do consulting work in the water industry and information systems. He was instrumental in formation of the Association for Systems Management, International, holding every office in the association, and was a long time active member of the American Water Works Association. A family graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to San Pedro Presbyterian Church, Sunshine Fund or American Cancer Society. The family thanks Odyssey House Hospice for their loving care in the final days of Ross’ life. Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Jackson and Michael Flaherty.
