Rosa Dolores (aka) Loli Martinez Delgado was called to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 17, 2023, after a lengthy battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis and Lupus. She was born in San Antonio, Texas to her parents Gilberto and Hilaria Sanchez Martinez on March 11, 1945. She attended Ivanhoe Elementary, Rhodes Junior High and Fox Tech High School.
Prior to this, she and her family would work during the winter months in Eaton Indiana as migrant farm workers to help subsidize the family income. This developed an incredible work ethic and a sense of family and community which she continued throughout her adult years.
While attending Fox Tech High School, during her sophomore year she met the love of her life, Joe G. Delgado. In December if their Senior year, he asked her parents for her hand in marriage. On September 19, 1964, they were married and began their long loving friendship, marriage of 52 years until Joe took his last breath.
Rose had a long fulfilling career with San Antonio Independent School District over 32 years where she proudly held various positions ending at the Special Education Department where she gained many long-time friends and co-workers.
Rose was a committed, proud, engaged, loving, understanding devoted mother to two daughters Deborah Denise Delgado(Robinson) Riffenburg (58) years old who on July 2, 2009 gave her the most precious gift and title of grandmother to her only granddaughter Mikayla Alexandra Robinson (14) (John Alexander Robinson).Mikayla lovingly called her Grammy and Rose was the most dedicated, loving, compassionate, devoted grammy who poured daily into the life of her grandchild. Her second child, Michele Marie Delgado (53) whom she welcomed after dancing the night away at her brothers wedding was her “consentida” and she was Michele’s best friend. Michele honored her mother by following in her steps by entering the educational field.
Rose is preceded in death by her parents, Gilberto and Hilaria Martinez, Husband, Joe G. Delgado, Brother, Humberto Martinez, Sister, Carmen R. Martinez. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Deborah Denise Riffenburg (William L. Riffenburg), and Michele Marie Delgado (Jose Sosa), love of her life granddaughter Mikayla A. Robinson (Father, John A. Robinson), Sister, Lucille DeLaRosa, Brother, Raymond Martinez (Lupe Martinez)&Sons, Nieces, Irma E. Martinez & Rose (Poochie) Martinez.
