Ronald Edward Walters, 68 years of age, was welcomed home by our Lord in the early morning hours of March 30th, 2022. He passed peacefully at home in the arms of the people he cared most about in this world and was taken into the arms of his mother whom he had waited so long to be reunited with.
He is preceded in Death by his mother, Claudia Walters, and his Grandson, Myco Jalen Scipio.
Ronald was someone who was so incredibly loved. He fought a long, hard battle with Cancer to stay with us but it is now time for him to rest. He leaves behind his Wife, Barbara Moreno; His Sisters, Antoinette, Annette, and Elaine Walters; His Brother, Ronald Hamilton; His Sons, Nathan, Ronald Jr. (Bubba), Stephan Andrew, and Paul; His Daughters, Felicia, Jaime, and Samantha; His Grandchildren, Anjelica, Claudia, Christopher, Merissa, Ricky, Alex, Daisy, Janae, Jada, Jacob, King Edward, Stephan Elija, Maliyah, Robin Rey, Leila, Brooklyn, Genesis and Ezryah; His Great Grandsons, Andrew, Ethan, and CJ, and finally, the Great Granddaughter he was waiting for, Adriana Ronnie Rose.
Born and raised in San Antonio, Ronald graduated from Highlands High School and joined the U.S. Marine Corps.at the Age of 17, where he traveled to Japan, Korea, China, and Vietnam. He was a proud Marine and a Vietnam Veteran. In 1985 he met Barbara Moreno, the woman whom he would spend his life with, who would help him raise his children, and who would show him truly what it meant to be loved and cared for.
Ronald was a brave, strong and admittedly, very stubborn man at times. He was our Marine and our hero. Just being around him made you feel stronger. He had a voice that could carry over any crowd and laugh so infectious it could brighten any room. It was a guarantee that he would make you smile or laugh and you would walk away from a conversation with him with a lighter heart. He was charismatic, making friends anywhere and everywhere. A charmer when he wanted to be and someone who could always make you feel like family. He was not a rich man, but what he had he would give, and what he didn’t have, he would always find a way to get. And if that wasn’t enough, then the laughter was always free.
Ronald struggled with his health in the past few years, having been diagnosed with Cancer only 6 years prior, but still he fought tooth and nail to remain strong for those he loved the most. His greatest wish was to see his grandbabies grow and though his heart and his head still had more to give and do, his body began to limit him. He put up a hard fight but on the morning of March 30th he looked at our mother and told her “It’s time to go” and as the rain began to pour, his mama lifted him up and took him home.
Today we sit mourning but we must also take comfort in knowing Ronald is resting, no longer suffering or in pain. He is surrounded by loved ones in paradise, and waiting for the rest of us down by the water so that we can all go fishing again.
We ask that you come and celebrate the amazing life of a man who was a friend to everyone, a father to many and is so very loved and missed by his family. Yes, we may shed tears but we will not forget his strength, his laugh and will we never forget his love.
