Rodolfo Corona Serna Sr., son of the late Domingo and Josefina Serna was born in San Antonio, TX on January 14, 1934. He was called to be with the Lord on June 13, 2016 at the age of 82. In April 18, 1956 he joined the United States Army and in March 23, 1957 he received his rank of PFC (T) and did his tour of duty. He was stationed overseas in Seoul, Korea. He received an honorable discharge in March 20, 1958. Rodolfo was a Korean War Veteran. Upon his discharge, he was employed by City Public Service Board in San Antonio, Texas. He retired in 1989 with 27 years of service. Rodolfo was united in Holy Matrimony to Guadalupe Castro in May 13, 1955. They celebrated their 61st anniversary this year. Rodolfo was a wonderful, kind, caring family man. His loving personality enlarged his circle of friends. He loved telling the grandchildren stories of his war days. He also loved playing baseball, which his grandsons made him proud. He was also a SURS FAN. He played the guitar and loved singing to the Lord till the end. He committed his life to the Lord for which he now has ETERNAL LIFE. He is preceded in death by his parents, Domingo and Josefina Serna; grandson, Adam Serna; 4 brothers and 1 sister. To cherish his memory, he is survived by his wife, Guadalupe C. Serna; four sons, and their wives, Rodolfo Jr. and Elizabeth, Gustavo and Annette, Rodger and Erlinda, Gilbert and Janie; three daughters and their husbands, Kathy and Jose De Los Santos, Maria and Mario Chapa, Amelia and Richard Alaquinez; twenty-three grandchildren, Abigail, Sarah, Jessica, Gus Jr, Christina, Felicia, Matthew, Priscilla, Tabitha, Noemi, Joel, Henry Jr., Jason, Walter, Gilbert Jr., Shari, Isai, Nancy, Mario Jr., Jacob, Chantel, Richard and Dominique; fourty-three great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; two brothers, Jose and Robert Serna, two sisters, Isabel Garces and Elvira Salazar; numerous nephews, nieces, brothers and sisters in Christ and a host of many many friends.
The Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Trevino Funeral Home , 2525 Palo Alto Rd. with a Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2016 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
