Rodolfo Rodriguez, a beloved father, grandfather, patriarch, and pillar of strength, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas, just two weeks after his beloved wife, Mary C. Rodriguez. He was born on September 8, 1927, in San Antonio to Eloisa and Joe Rodriguez. Rodolfo lived most of his life in San Antonio, where he touched the lives of many with his friendship, dedication to family, technical know-how, and infectious humor.
Rodolfo, or Rudy as he was affectionately known, was a man of great character, wisdom, and resilience. He served his country honorably, having served in both the Navy and the Army Air Force in his early life. He was proud of his service, and his commitment to his duties in the military was a testament to his unwavering dedication and love for his country.
Rudy is survived by his three children, Rudy Rodriguez, Sylvia Moore, and Roger Rodriguez, , and their families. They enjoyed a close bond with their father and grandfather and will forever cherish his memory. His legacy continues through his ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom was blessed to experience his love and guidance. Additionally, his sister, Mrs. Manda Bernal, mourns the loss of her dear brother.
In his 74 years of marriage, Rudy and Mary created a bond that withstood the test of time. They were an inseparable team, supporting each other through the ups and downs of life. Mary's recent passing left a void in Rudy's heart, and it is comforting to know that they are reunited once again.
Rudy’s presence and constant support were sources of inspiration for his family. He encouraged them to rise each morning, work hard, and find joy in life’s simplest moments. His sense of humor brought laughter and goodwill to friends, neighbors, and those around him. His dedication to his loved ones was unwavering.
A funeral mass honoring Mary and Rudy’s lives will be held on Thursday, June 29th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church, located at 210 St. Ann Street, San Antonio, Texas. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, June 28th, at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home. Mary and Rudy will be buried together at Fort Sam National Cemetery.
