Rodolfo Reuben (Rudy) Ledesma, 59, of San Antonio, TX, passed away Saturday, 13 February 2021 from complications after suffering a heart attack. He was born in San Antonio, TX to Rebecca (Campa) and Rodolfo X. Ledesma. Rudy graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1979 and went on to serve in the United States Navy for 16 years as a Hospital Corpsman. He married M. Leslie Palmer on 5 August 2006. Rudy is survived by his wife, Leslie; his children, Mary Catherine Ledesma, Thomas R. Ledesma, Kevin M. Palmer and Kevin’s wife, Jennifer Robbins Palmer; his grandchildren, Davis M. and Cameron R. Palmer; his parents, Rebecca and Rudy Ledesma; his sisters, Rosa Maria and Rosa Linda Ledesma; Jean Kelly (mother of Mary Catherine and Thomas); and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws.
After a career in the Navy, Rudy lived in Newport, RI and worked at the Newport Hospital, Emergency Department. In 2003 he returned to San Antonio to run Ledesma Personal Care Home. Rudy enjoyed fishing and hunting, but most of all he loved to spend time with family and friends. He had one of those smiles that could light up any room, and he was often found sharing his infectious laugh and sense of humor with those around him. He was also the guy to call when you needed an extra helping hand. Rudy was selfless and his kindness was singular.
Rudy was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Council 8306, Helotes, TX and American Legion, Audie Murphy Post 0336. He was a lifelong fan of the University of Texas Longhorns, the Dallas Cowboys, the San Antonio Spurs. From his time spent in the northeast, he adopted a love for New England sports teams as well.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, 3 March 2021 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, 4 March 2021 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 13715 Riggs Road, Helotes, TX 78023. Burial at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery will be private due to pandemic restrictions. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Holy Cross High School, 426 N San Felipe Ave, San Antonio, TX 78228 or Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Guadalupe Council 8306, P.O.
