Rudy P. Jimenez, born in San Antonio, TX on August 5, 1927 to Eustaquio and Romana Peña Jimenez, went to be with the Lord on August 17, 2015 at the age of 88. Rudy was a US Army veteran who served in the Philippines during WWII and spent over 30 years working for the NEISD when he retired as Head Custodian. He was well respected and loved by the many teachers and students that knew him for his kindness and willingness to help anyone he met. He loved working with his hands on wood projects and built numerous bird houses for his family and friends. He also was an avid builder of model cars and ships where he spent many hours painting intricate details into his craft.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lupe, and sons, Rudy A. Jimenez Jr., and Joe A. Jimenez. He is survived by his children, Mary Rodriguez, Charlie A. Jimenez and wife, Mary, Elizabeth Jimenez-Fuentes and husband, Hector, Susan Marquez and husband, James, Michael A. Jimenez and wife, Jill; grandchildren, Vincent, Emily, John-Carlo, Lorenzo, Isabella, Julian, Jonah, Kelli, Anthony, Katrina, Erica, Jacob, Barclay, and Andrea; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Gilbert Jimenez, sisters, Esperanza Alvarado and Betty Carrisalez, and brothers-in-law, Manuel Carrisalez and Roman Lopez.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 20th from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, August 21st at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations in honor of Rudy be made to Meals-on-Wheels, American Diabetes Association, or Lighthouse for the Blind, organizations that Rudy supported and respected for their efforts in helping him deal with his own afflictions.
