Our beloved Roberto ‘Robert’ De Jesus, Sr., born July 21, 1944 in Santurce, Puerto Rico, graduated on to heaven on March 19, 2024, following years of kidney failure and congestive heart failure in San Antonio, Texas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carmen Socorro De Jesus, and seven of their eight children and children-in-law Debbie and David Hernandez, Elizabeth ‘Liz’ De Jesus, Melissa De Jesus, Lilly S. De Jesus, Andre De Jesus and Zaida Nieves Lopez, Iliana De Jesus, Peter and Mildred De Jesus (Lancaster, TX), and Samuel ‘Sammy’ De Jesus (Rochester, NY), in addition to his and Carmen’s grandchildren Erica, Iliana, Vincent, Eric, Trey, Layla, Aaron, Noah, Christian, Gabriella, Samantha, David, Jada, Tino, great grandchildren Camila, Aria, and Joaquin and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family throughout the U.S., including Puerto Rico.
We take comfort in knowing he has been reunited with his parents Lope and Josefina De Jesus, his son Roberto ‘Bobby’ DeJesus, Jr., and his granddaughter Amanda ‘Mandy’ De Jesus in heaven.
Since graduating from high school in Manhattan, NY, Robert was a printing pressman by trade and later also became a Pastor/Minister by divine calling in Rochester, NY. His steadfast faith in our Lord Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life, marriage, family, work, and anything else he set his hands to. Although he was known to be serious about things that mattered most to him and His Christian faith, he was also known for making jokes out of just about anything, in order to make people smile, laugh, and enjoy life, family, and friends. He was also full of youthfulness and always considered himself much younger than he really was. Those who knew him well would hear him say he was 29 or 39 and looking fine all the time. We will miss him greatly and look forward to being reunited with him in our Lord Jesus’s presence in God’s time.
