On this day the better part of my life has come to an end; my husband Robert Ybarra “Uncle Bob” passed away on Friday, November 9, 2012 at the age of 72. Robert was born on January 27, 1940 in San Antonio to Ernest Ybarra and Marina Rosales Ybarra. He attended and graduated from San Antonio Technician and Vocational School, class of 1958. He was a member of the Frame Benders Car Club in the 1950s, where he first saw his future wife to be, Olga Delgado. They were married on November 20, 1960 at St. Leos Catholic Church. Their son, Robert Jr. (Bobby Budweiser), was born on July 24, 1961 at a mere weight of 4 lbs. Bobby was the joy of his life. Mr. Ybarra went to work at the San Antonio Transit Co., now known as VIA Metropolitan Transit as a bus operator for 40 years, where he met and made many, many friends. He received an award for driving over 3 million miles in his career, with 39 years of accident free driving. He was a member in good standing of The Amalgamated Transit Union Local # 694 and also a member of the Nat. M. Washer Masonic Lodge #1270 A.F. & A.M. and a 33rd Degree Mason. Bob enjoyed going fishing with many of his friends. He and Olga enjoyed extensive traveling and a very active social life with their many dear friends and family. He especially enjoyed his many, many trips to Las Vegas, very little winning, but lots and lots of fun. He also enjoyed listening to all the good oldies music. But he will best be remembered for his sense of humor. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Olga Delgado (Salas) Ybarra, and by the pride of his life, Robert Jr.(Bobby Budweiser); his brother, Ernest Ybarra Jr. and his loving family, his sister, Mary Esther Olivieri and her loving family; brothers-in-law, David Salas and Emma, Reuben Salas and Anna, Tony Salas(deceased) and Carmen; Rudy Salas and all their loving families; sister-in-law, Rosie Blaha and George and her loving family, and special sister-in-law, Dolores Luna and her loving and caring family. And this brings Mr. Robert Ybarra to the “END” of the line of his route. Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road on Friday, November 16, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. The procession will depart the funeral home at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, November 17, 2012 for an 11:00 A.M. mass at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 159 Camino Santa Maria street. Services will conclude at the church.
