Robert Wilson Weaver was born April 29th, 1922 in Kansas City, Missouri to Clark Eugene and Margaret Sina (Wilson) Weaver. He passed away on July 28th, 2012 at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his parents, in laws, and an older brother Clark Eugene Weaver II.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Jane, brother and sister in law Warren and Connie Weaver of Prairie Village, Kansas,
daughters and sons in law Kathy and Scott Friedrichsen of San Antonio, Texas, and Nancy and Dave Harrington of St. Paul,
Nebraska, son and daughter in law Tom and Suzanne Weaver of San Antonio, Texas. His grandchildren include Jack and
Michael Friedrichsen, Matt and Scott Harrington, Bob Weaver, and Jennifer Abboud. His great grandchildren are Evan and
Benjamin Abboud.
Robert grew up in Kansas City, Missouri where he graduated from Southwest High School in 1939. He was attending the
University of Kansas when World War II began. He was drafted to the Army in 1942. Robert served as a 1st Technical
Sergeant in the Engineer Corps. He made two landings in the Pacific Theater on Leyte and Okinawa. He was honorably
discharged in 1945.
Robert was united in marriage to Ethel Jane McFarland on May 4, 1944 in San Obispo, California. After the war they made
their home in Dallas, Houston, and Kansas City. Robert was Chairman and President of the family lumber business Roddis
Lumber and Veneer Co. In 1967 the family moved to Omaha where Robert worked for Nebraska Bridge and Supply Co.until
his retirement in 1977.
Robert enjoyed hunting for ducks and quail. He and Jane raised many bird dogs throughout their married life. He also
enjoyed fishing and vacationing at Bay Lake in Brainerd Minnesota. He took many fishing trips every spring to
Woodland Beach Resort on Bay Lake. Robert was an accomplishment woodworker. He made countless pieces of
furniture not only for themselves, but also for all of his family and friends. He was also a golfer. As a young man he began caddying for his Uncle Buck Weaver at Blue Hills Country Club. Robert was always proud and willing to share with anyone when he shot his age. He enjoyed the game until his health stopped him from playing. Robert grew a big garden and was especially proud of his tomatoes. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren and his memory will be cherished by all who knew him. Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 from 5pm-7pm. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bill Shockley officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park .
