Robert Thomas Root, Sr.

Robert graduated from Central Catholic High School where he was an accomplished trumpeter and a member of the all-state band. He later graduated with a BBS from St. Mary's University where he was a member of the Rho Beta Gamma fraternity, men who are gentle in manner and strong in action. An avid fishermen, Robert could often be found on the phone talking with his twin brother about the "Lake Calaveras and the Tootsie Roll report."

Robert had a kind and giving nature which was epitomized by his beautiful thirty-six year marriage with the love of his life Janie and his willingness to dedicate the last years of his life as nanny to his beloved granddaughter Adriana.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Rose Root and he is survived by his loving wife, Juanita Root; 2 children, Robert Root Jr. and Teresa Swanson; Son-in law, Michael Swanson; grandchildren Adriana and John; Father, Paul Franklin Root; brothers, Paul, James, and Michael; Aunt Rita; and cousins Ray, Kathy, and carol.

Visitation will be 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 8, 2012 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 102 Lorenz, San Antonio, TX 78209. Interment will follow at Boerne Cemetery, Boerne, Texas.
