Coach Robert “Bob” Richter, age 69, passed away on July 19, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Eugene and Mary Richter, and his sister, Barbara Smith. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Martha, his son, Robert, his daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Wayne Jackson, his granddaughter, Molly, his brother and sister, James and Jeanette, nieces, nephews, and hundreds of students and soccer players.
Bob graduated from Robert Cole High School in 1964 and Trinity University in 1972—2nd in his class. He went on to John Jay High School where he taught German and French, and began his love of coaching soccer. In 1985, he accepted the positions of International Language Coordinator, French teacher and Varsity Boys’ Soccer Coach at William Howard Taft High School. He retired from teaching and coaching in 2008. Since retirement, he spent most of his time with his granddaughter and worked part time at Dub Farris Athletic Complex.
He had an incredible heart and made sure that his family and friends knew how much he truly cared about them.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 24, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 6:45 p.m. at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation on his behalf to St. Jude’s Childrens’ Hospital.
