Robert G. Pfister passed away on 1 November, 2014 after a brief illness. Robert was born on 22 October 1946 in Highland Park, Illinois to Thelma and Eugene Pfister. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years Chieko and his father Eugene. He is survived by his Mother Thelma Pfister; Brother Richard Pfister; Aunt Grace Loesch; and Uncle Charles Goosman. Robert retired from the US Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1991 after nearly 27 years. He flew in support of Southeast Asia combat operations aboard EC-47 PHYLLIS ANN, RC-135M COMBAT APPLE, C-130B-II COMMANDO LANCE, and EC-121 COLLEGE EYE platforms. After Southeast Asia, he flew missions on the RC-135 RIVET JOINT in the western Pacific. He was stationed in Japan, Viet Nam, and Okinawa. His stateside assignments included California and Texas. During his career, SMSgt Pfister received the Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters and the Air Medal with 35 OLC. After the military, Robert worked in San Antonio for ACE MART Restaurant Supply from 1993 to 2011.
Services will be held at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home at 6321 Bandera Road on Veteran’s Day, 11 November. Viewing will be from 11 AM to Noon. A service will commence at Noon.
Internment services will be held at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
