Robert David Benton was born February 3rd, 1948 in St. Joseph, Missouri to his parents, Robert E. and Peggy Benton, and passed away July 1st, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 72 due to his Leukemia.
Robert was a CW2 in the U.S. Army and retired on July 11th, 1990. He worked in the signal field and as an Electronics Engineer. After he retired he became an IT technician working for Computer Science Corporation in South Korea where he met and married Ms. Jum Deuk Shin. He and his wife returned to the USA in July 2017 where he retired in San Antonio. He was a Christian who loved the Lord and attended church regularly. He was a Soldier who loved his country. He was a friend, a teacher, a mentor and a husband.
He is survived by his wife; sister Annie; brothers Ronald and Timothy; and children Robert, Brandon, and Nathiel.
Visitation will be held July 9th, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home from 3-7 p.m. Services will continue the following day, July 10th, 2020, at Sunset Funeral Home with Visitation beginning at 11 a.m. and Funeral Service at 12:30 p.m. A Committal Service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery will follow at 1:45 p.m. at Shelter #5.
