Richard Shelton Vance

Rick passed away, at the age of 78, peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. Rick is preceded in death by his mother Leatrice Mauldin, stepfather Jack Mauldin and father John Henry Vance, as well as his grandfather Emett Lomax and grandmother Pansy “Bom” Lomax, whom he deeply loved. Rick is survived by his spouse of 35 years, Brenda and his stepchildren Del and wife Maryanne Harvey, Shannon and husband Bob Henderson, Stacey and husband Juan Nieves, grandchildren Cheyenne, Ariann, Jaden, Zane, Colton, Logan, Brylee, and Cayson, and several friends. He is also survived by 3 daughters, Valerie Hartle, Melissa Young, and Leigh Vance as well as their children.

Rick was a very humble and simple man with a huge smile and a distinctive laugh. He loved Nascar, he was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed camping. Rick was well known on the east side of San Antonio with his long time businesses, Vance Radiator and Vance Recycling. After his retirement he enjoyed traveling around the world with Brenda. Rick definitely enjoyed life!

A visitation for Richard will be held Thursday, September 26, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A funeral service will occur Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 7:00 PM, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A graveside service will occur Friday, September 27, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78218.

All are welcomed to gather at Bob and Shannon Henderson’s residence on Friday at 3:00 at 7499 FM 1044
