It is with great sadness that the family of Richard Gilbert Rivera announce his passing at the age of 67 in San Antonio, Texas. Richard was born in San Antonio, Texas to Alicia and Librado Rivera. He graduated from Edison High School. Richard received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from UTSA. After graduating from UTSA, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army, serving for 5 years and was honorably discharged as a captain. Richard was a very patriotic man and had a deep love for serving his country. After he left the service, he received his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Our Lady of the Lake University. Richard enjoyed birdwatching, gardening, photography, and art, the most recent being drawing and watercolors. Richard is preceded in death by both of his parents, Alicia L. Rivera and Librado Rivera. He is survived by his daughter, Christina; his 2 grandchildren, Alicia and Alexander; his step-children, Monica, Chase, and Blake; his brothers, Edward and Robert (Kathy); his nephew, Steven; his great-niece, Emmalie; along with numerous cousins.
A committal service for Richard will be held Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 10:45 AM at Shelter #5 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78209.
