He was preceded in death by his parents and twin sister, Ruth Ellen McCullen.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years: Diana; children: Christina Vaquera and husband Christopher, Tommy Hard and wife Jessica; grandchildren: Daniel Hard, Raiden Vaquera, Vincent Vaquera, Isaiah Vaquera, Isabel Vaquera, Eli Hard, David Hard, Caleb Hard; siblings: Paul Hard, Marilyn Polston, both of Missouri, and other loving family members and friends.
SFC Richard E. Hard served in the United States Army for twenty years, and then continued working as a cytotechnologist with LabCorp until he retired in 2019. He was a man of God, ordained as a deacon at Eisenhauer Road Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School, and most recently was a member of Madison Hills Baptist Church. Richard was very detail oriented, especially as a firearms enthusiast, of which he had a vast knowledge and skill in restoration. Richard was a loving husband, father and grandfather who adored his family dearly. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation for Richard will be on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 from 6pm-8pm at Sunset Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held the next day, Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 11am at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Larry Smith officiating. The graveside service and burial will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at 1:15pm at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetary.
