Richard Olmos Gonzales Sr. was born on Saturday, February 26, 1944. Our beloved Father entered his eternal rest on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at the age of 79 years old. He was a lifelong resident of San Antonio, Texas.
In 1967, He married the love of his life, Frances Victoria Marquez. They were married for 47 years and raised their children. He served his country in the United States Army Reserves and attained the rank of Sergeant. He was honorably discharged from his service on Sunday, May 31, 1970.
He was a Master welder by trade. He co-owned and operated the “General Repair Shop” with his father Alejandro Gonzales, and brothers Albert and Gilbert Gonzales in central San Antonio, Texas for over a decade. He later moved to L&M Sheet Metal and Steel Inc. where he would continue to excel at his craft for over 40 years until his untimely passing. He was an honest, diligent, and dedicated worker. He modeled a strong work ethic and continuously mastered his craft along with other skills to perfection. He continuously showed his love for his family through his service. He was an excellent provider. He was highly reliable, dedicated, and productive. He maximized his time on the job. It was evident in the pristine quality of work he was known for. There was not a task he was not equipped for; nor capable of completing. In the eyes of his children and family, there was nothing he could not do. He was proud of the accomplishments of his children and the families that they created. He enjoyed watching drag races, going to the flea market, and spoiling the household pets, Audra, Bella, and Billy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alejandro and Micaela Gonzales, beloved wife Frances Victoria Marquez Gonzales, sisters Josephina Villarreal, Manuela Zamora, brothers Jesse Gonzales, son-in-law Mark Heman, sister-in-law Virginia Gonzales, and grandchild Faith Gonzales. He is survived by brothers, Albert Gonzales, Gilbert (Cindy) Gonzales, and sister Alicia (Rogelio) Uribe.
Left to cherish his memory are his children and their spouses: Lisa Marie Heman, Richard O. Gonzales Jr. (Pearl Morones), Ruben Manuel Gonzales (Geneva), Michelle A. Gonzales, Raul Gonzales (Debbie). Grandchildren: Jackie, Nicole William, Carlos III, Desiree, Seth Micheal, Mia, Noah, Caitlin, and Joshua; Great-grandchildren Caden, Natalie, Mila, Everett, Emerson, Savanah, Viviana, Katerina, as well as many other family members, nieces and nephews, the Hackworth family and Bowles family.
Services for Richard Olmos Gonzales Sr. will be as follows: Visitation will be on Thursday, May 18, 2023, from 5:00 PM- 10:00 PM at the Del Angel Treviño Funeral home on 226 Cupples Rd, San Antonio, Texas, 78237. Burial will be on Friday, May 19, 2023, at 10:00 AM starting at Del Angel Treviño then to the San Fernando III Cemetery located at 1735 Cupples Rd. San Antonio, Texas 78226.
