Richard Coronado passed away November 26, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 82 after 60 years of a wonderful marriage to his wife, Molly Coronado. Richard was born to Pedro and Aurora Coronado on November 18, 1941 and lived all of his life in San Antonio, Texas.
Richard attended St. Ann’s Catholic School and San Antonio Vocational and Technical School (Tech, Class of 1960). After high school, he attended San Antonio College and served in the United States Army Reserves. His professional career of 51 years was spent entirely as an Estimator and Project Manager in the ceramic tile, granite, and marble construction industry. He served as the CYO City Track Commissioner for numerous years and was a past President of the Central Catholic High School Father’s Club. Throughout his life, he coached many teams and enjoyed playing various sports, including golf. He also enjoyed vacationing with his family, as well as camping, hiking, hunting, and fishing.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Pedro Coronado, his mother, Aurora Sepulveda Coronado; his brothers, Manuel “Con” Coronado and Armando “Ray” Coronado.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Molly Coronado; his son, Richard Coronado Jr. and wife, Diane; daughter, Cynthia Lorraine Coronado; and grandson, Christopher Joseph Coronado, and wife Brenna; his siblings, Socorro Saavedra (Ricardo†), Martin Coronado (Rita), Carmen Gutierrez (Ariel†), sister-in-law, Virginia Coronado (Ray†), and numerous nephews and nieces. He is also survived by a family of many close friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 9:00 A.M. at St. Luke Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78228 with a rosary to begin at 9:30 A.M. and a funeral mass at 10:00 A.M., followed by a reception at 12:30 P.M. at Mamacita’s, 8030 IH-10 West, San Antonio, Texas 78230.
