Ricardo D. Garcia, also known as Rick, entered into his eternal rest, surrounded by his loving children and sisters, on Monday, January 24, 2022 at the tender age of 61. Rick was born in Brownsville, Texas on September 20, 1960 to Maria Concepcion "Conchie" Danache and Leonardo Garcia Jr., he was baby of five siblings.
As a child, Rick's grandmother showed him the power of food. She would only allow him in the kitchen while she cooked, sharing her secrets and recipes. He would show his love through the delicious meals they would create together. Rick found the wonders of magic and music at a young age. During his teenage year he would perfect his magic tricks, always following the magician's code of never reveling his secrets. Once in high school, he became more athletics, joining the track team and learning martial arts with his brothers. He worked in a joke and magic shop where he was able to learn more magic tricks from other magicians in the city. After leaving high school and with much knowledge of the magic business, he opened his own magic shop in Brownsville. While performing magic trick, he would sometimes tell jokes which got him many gigs as a clown as well. At the age of 20 he married Blanca Martinez and was gifted with his hardest job, fatherhood. His daughter, Valerie became his pride and joy the pea to his pod. Separating from his first wife brought many hardship raising Valerie as a single father, but with the support of his family he was able to pushed forward.
In 1983, he met Rosa Martinez and a friendship started. Rick and Rosa raised Valerie together, after time they decided to get married and moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. With the move to the coast, his love for fishing flourished, taking his daughter on many fishing trips. Rick began woodworking, making wooden toys, name plates, dog house and even furniture pieces. The family later decided to move back to Brownsville, Texas to be closer with family. At the age of 34, Rick was reminded of the joys of fatherhood with his second child, Jeramie. With career prospects, they moved a to Austin, Texas where Rick worked at Sunglo where he would share his delicious meals with the elderly. Rick would take daily homemade meals to his son's school during lunch, often peaking the interest of the cafeteria workers. His cooking would never let you down. In 2005, Rick moved the family to San Antonio, Texas to be once again closer to family. He was able to spend valuable time with his mother and sister.
Rick loved to make people laugh, often sharing his jokes. He was a hard working man with an unbreakable warrior spirit. Never afraid to roll up his sleeves and work tirelessly for the sake of his family. Rick was an amazing father, his children saw him as an idol, hero and inspiration.
Rick will be reunited in heaven with his grandparents; parents, Conchie and Leonardo; brother, Daniel; nephew, Marc; and brother in law, Benito.
He will always be remembered by his loving children, Valerie and Jeramie (Narda); grandchildren, Adalene (Dominic), Adrian, and Amaris; siblings, Sylvia (Orlando), Irma, and David (Carmen); great-grandchild, Haven; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members who adored him.
A visitation for Ricardo will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 2525 Palo Alto Rd, San Antonio, TX 78211, followed by a celebration of life at 7:00 PM. The celebration of life service will be livestreamed on the Trevino Funeral Home Palo Alto Facebook page.
