

Dr. Childers was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He graduated with a B.A. from Baylor University and holds Honorary Doctorate Degrees from Howard Payne University and Hardin-Simmons University. He served as President of Baptist Memorial Hospital System Foundation in San Antonio. He was Director of Development and Senior Development Officer for the Baptist Memorial Hospital System. He also served as Vice President for Development at Hardin-Simmons University. He was the pastor for Westbrook Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Ozona, TX, and Riverside Baptist Church, San Antonio. He was a Director of Paisano Baptist Encampment in Alpine, TX and a Trustee of University of Corpus Christi, Baptist Medical Center, and Howard Payne University. Dr. Childers was a member and Director of the San Antonio Kiwanis Club.
Clyde Childers was not a common man. He was uncommonly sensitive, thoughtful and caring. He was an uncommonly hard worker with an admirable tenacity, which allowed him to meet all challenges. He was uncommonly devoted to his wife, his friends, and his task. He was uncommonly committed to his Lord, his church, and his denomination.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Lois Childers. Survivors: sisters, Geneva Blanchard of Gatesville, TX and Helen Sadler of Mound, TX and their families
