Refugio Ybarra

Refugio Ybarra, known to many as Yogi or Cuco, passed away at the age of 87 on January 10, 2017. He was born on July 4, 1929 in Bartlett, Texas to David and Celia Ybarra. In 1966 he married Juanita Renteria Flores. Refugio honorably served in the Air Force and retired from the Texas Air National Guard as a Senior Master Sargent in 1983. He is survived by son Jesse Flores (Sandy), daughter Yvonne Grothues (Tom), and beloved granddaughter Caroline, as well as brothers Tony (Esther) and Robert (Betty) Ybarra. Yogi is preceded in death by his wife Juanita, son Martin, brothers Luis and Mucio Ybarra, and sisters Eugenia Ybarra and Tina Garcia. Visitation and Rosary will be held on Sunday, January 15th at 6:30 p.m. at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road. Funeral Mass will be Monday, January 16th at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 8134 Blanco Road.
