Raymond "Ray" C Whitehair

Raymond C. Whitehair Father, Grandfather, Brother and Friend was called to heaven peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at the age of 81. Born on April 10, 1941 to Ammon and Ruby Whitehair of Carthage, Tennessee. He graduated high school and worked at WLAC in television production. Later he transitioned to the Medical Division in the United States Army as a Federal Employee; after several military base transfers he retired after 40 years while at Fort Sam Houston in 2006. In Ray’s spare time he was sworn into the Comal County Police Department on December 29, 1999 and retired on May 5, 2015 after 15 years of service. In 1965 he married the love of his life Gayle, celebrated 57 years on January 9th and had 3 children Cynthia, Russell and Ryan.

Ray enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends, riding on his Harley, hunting and fishing and definitely never met a stranger.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Gayle Whitehair, daughter Cynthia (Joel) Adams, Russell Whitehair, Ryan (Shannon) Whitehair; Granddaughters Amber Hills, Mckenzie and Ryleigh Whitehair, Raelynne Whitehair, Grandson Owen Adams, Sisters Ramona (Jimmy) Griffith, Barbara Dillehay, Janice (Ray) Presley and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held for friends and family Wednesday, September 21, 2022 beginning at 5:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas followed by a funeral service at 6:00 pm celebrating Ray’s life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Defense League in honor of Raymond “Ray” Whitehair.
