Ray H. Brashear, Col USAF (Ret) passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2015 and will join Bea, his beloved wife and partner of 58 years. He entered aviation cadet training in January 1942 graduating as a pilot in World War II. He flew with the troop carrier units in oversea duty in the C-46 Combat Cargo Group in the South/Western Pacific-Australia to Japan. He continued on active duty with Air Force until retirement in 1965. Following was a second career of 17 years with Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) with a 1984 retirement. Full retirement came later in San Antonio in 1989.
There will be a graveside service with Full Air Force Honors on Thursday, October 15th at 10:00 am at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Rev. Ray Davis is officiating.
He is survived by nephew, Larry Rider and his wife, Denise; great-niece, Ginger Carter and her husband, Capt. Joseph Carter; great-niece, Destina Brewer and great-nephew, Russell Grandgeorge. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fisher House Foundation at fisherhouse.org.
