Raul Luciano Ortiz, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother entered rest on February 5, 2015 at the age of 97. A native of San Antonio, he was born to Luciano and Rosa Ortiz on February 23, 1917. Mr. Ortiz honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Rudy. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Alicia and their children: Richard A. Ortiz (Amalia), Raul “Bert” Ortiz (Monte), Daniel V. Ortiz (Theresa), Laura A. Villarreal (Daniel); 7 grandchildren: Gabe, Andrea, Sarah, Zoe, Allie, Daniel Jr., and Christopher; great granddaughter, Maya; brother, Luciano Ortiz; and other relatives. He will be remembered by his family for being the “Best in the West” always having a positive attitude with ability to make lemonade out of lemons. The family will receive friends at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2015 to celebrate a 9:00 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
