Raul C Ortega

Raul C. Ortega 94 of San Antonio TX passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024 in Floresville TX. He was born to parents Ignacio Ortega and Francisca Cantu Ortega in Mercedes TX on August 30, 1929. Raul joined the Army in 1946. During his enlistment, he achieved the Bronze Star, Silver Star, Purple Heart, and he became a part of the Texas National Guard Hall of Honor and many accommodations for Meritorious Service. He was also a member of the Masons and the American Legion.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-five years, Mary Frances Ortega, siblings, Mary Meyers, and Tony Ortega, children, Janet Nieto, daughter-in-law, Sylvia Velasquez.

Raul is survived by his current wife, Isabel Ortega of San Antonio TX, children, Mary Ann (John) Greiner of Corpus Christi, TX, Charley Ortega of San Antonio TX, Roy Jr. (Liz) Ortega of Corpus Christi TX, Martha (Randy) Roelofsz of Kansas City, MO, David (Jennifer) Ortega of San Antonio TX, Michael (Sylvia) Velasquez of San Antonio TX, Fred (Sue) Velasquez of West Depford, New Jersey, siblings, Emma Donofrey of Sun City, FL, Juan Ortega of Sun City, FL, grandchildren, Kai Greiner, Gavin Greiner, J.D. Greiner, Czamine Ortega, Charlie Ortega, Craig Ortega, Layla Ortega, Roy Ortega III, Cal Ortega, Sam Ortega, Ajay Lozano, Mallory Shannon, Cody Roelofsz, Jesse Roelofsz, Diana Ortega, Matthew Ortega, Victoria Tamez, Christopher Nieto, Jessica Murray, Michael John Velasquez, Tiffany Tamez, Matthew Velasquez, John Aguilar, Jaclyn DeLuna, Stella Walker, Christina Velasquez, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Raul will be held Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a eulogy at 6:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 2525 Palo Alto Rd, San Antonio, TX 78211. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM on Friday, March 22, 2024, with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Rd, Corpus Christi, TX 78415. Funeral Services will begin on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 10:00 AM, with a graveside service at 11:00 AM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Rd, Corpus Christi, TX 78415.
