Raul R. Hernandez

Raul R. Hernandez born on January 27, 1927 ascended into heaven on May 6, 2013 at the age of 86 to live with his Heavenly Father for all eternity. When he was alive, he was a proud U.S. Army Veteran who served during World War II while stationed in Japan.

Raul was a man of faith and was an active member of University Park Baptist Church during his healthy years. He was a very patient man with a gentle and quiet spirit. He trusted God, rarely worried about anything, and encouraged others to do the same. His favorite phrase was “It’ll be alright”. He was a true soldier and never complained about anything. Raul was a very confident man. He loved himself and was able to love others. He also found it a privilege to help people in need in any way he could. He loved God and faithfully followed Godly principles.

Raul was also a member of the YMCA and participated in swimming, aerobics and line dancing. He enjoyed Fiesta week in San Antonio and loved attending the parades. He enjoyed all kinds of music and enjoyed traveling to numerous places outside of San Antonio. He was a big kid at heart and loved eating ice cream, hamburgers, and pizza and dining out at different restaurants. He lived life to the fullest even at an old age.

Raul is preceded in death by his parents Prudencio and Celestina Hernandez, first wife Amalia Hernandez; brothers Antonio, Jose and Nick Hernandez; daughter, Magdalena Hernandez and sister Rosa Cantu. He is survived by his second wife Rosa Hernandez, his sons, Arturo, Ruben and Xavier Hernandez; his daughters, Blanche Medrano and Rosario De La Cruz, step children, Toni De Leon, Sally Luna, Joe Medina and many other relatives.

Viewing is scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd. with a service to celebrate Raul’s life at 7:00 p.m. on the same evening. Another service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013 in the funeral home chapel. A funeral procession will follow at the San Fernando Cemetery No. 2.
