Raul was 5 years old when he lost his mother and 13 years old when he lost his father. At the age 10 he left Karnes City to San Antonio to live with his aunt, where he was raised until he was 17. Raul then moved in with his brother Francisco Garcia and his wife Minnie Garcia and attended school until age 17. When he was in the 11th grade he began working with his uncle, who taught him life skills in electrical and carpentry. Then in 1969 at the age of 17 he found his one and only true love and her name was Teresa Martinez, she was just 14, they married and had three children. His father in law got him a job with the Bexar County Juvenile Detention Center, where he worked for 25 years. However, his passion was always doing Electrical and so he went back and just like his uncle went on to teaching his brother in laws, sons and nephews all his life skills and all he knew. His quote would always be and he'd say "you can make money doing this, it's up to you if you want to learn".
He has now been reunited in heaven with his paternal grandfather, Merce Garcia Sr.; maternal grandmother, Isabel Garcia; father, Jose Garcia; mother, Jovita Garcia; brother, Hipolito “Polo” Garcia (wife Mary Helen), Eusebio “Chevo” Garcia, Francisco “Frank” Garcia; sister, Genovera “Bozie” G. Vasquez (husband Rodrigo “Rod” Vasquez); grandson, Andrew Rangel; great-grandbaby, Girasol Rangel; niece, Laura Garcia; compadre, Mario Rodriguez; mother in laws, Carmen ”C-Girl” Quiles, Manuela "Mela" Martinez; father in law, Marcelino Martinez.
