Ramon Ledezma Hernandez, beloved patriarch of the Hernandez families, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the age of 88. Ramon was born to Eligio and Ofelia Hernandez on August 12, 1924 in Monterrey, Mexico. Ramon worked in the railroad in his early years when he lived in Monterrey Mexico. As newlyweds Ramon and Maria Luisa immigrated to the United States and began their life in Brownsville, Texas. Later years he moved the family to San Antonio, Texas. Ramon was an honest man with integrity, and a hard worker. His reputation was impeccable. He worked harder than anyone else and believed in being well prepared. He admired perseverance, honesty, and integrity. When he arrived in San Antonio, Texas he worked long hours and weekends to provide for his family. He sacrificed to provide his children with their education in private schools. He worked and retired from USAA. In his retirement, Ramon enjoyed working around the house, building a workshop for all his tools and equipment, and making a dining table and hutch for their home. He was a contributor to many charitable organizations. He loved and enjoyed his family and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eligio and Ofelia Hernandez. He is survived by his wife, Maria Luisa Hernandez, of 63 years of marriage, and his children: Ramon E. Hernandez, Mayra Hernandez-Moore and her spouse(Billy) Jorge E. Hernandez and his spouse(Andrea); grandchildren, Michael Jason Calvillo(Jennifer), Marlise Andrea Hernandez, Mario Alberto Hernandez, Angelica Maria Carrasco(Anthony), and Jorge Miguel Hernandez; great grandchildren, Vicente Alejandro Fernandez, Ashliee Brooke Lopez, Marcus Anthony Carrasco, Jacob Rene Carrasco, Jacen Calvillo, and Davis Avery Calvillo. Visitation will be on Friday, February 8, 2013 at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Rosary being recited at 7:00pm that evening. A funeral Procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30am on Saturday, February 9, 2013 to St. Jude Catholic Church for a 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
