Ralton was born to Donald and Kathleen Way, July 25, 1958, in Hihycombe, England. He graduated from John Jay High School in San Antonio, Texas in 1977. He received a scholarship from the Houston Baptist University, in Texas to play basketball.
Ralton was a four-year letterwinner for the HBU from 1977-1981. He led the team in both scoring and rebounding during the season 1977-1978.
Ralton was the all -time leader with 234 block shots, ranks tenth with 1,374 points and seventh with 745 rebounds. In the season 1977-78, he set the single season record with 85 blocks.
Ralton averaged 16 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, to earn his first two-straight All Trans America Athletic Conference selections. Then, in 1980-81, he averaged 10.9 points and 6.1 rebounds as a senior, to lead the HBU Huskies to their first TAAC title in school history.
December 10, 1980, Ralton scored a career-high 30 points against Oklahoma State. In 1981 Ralton was selected by the Washington Bullets in the NBA Draft, in the 10th round.
Ralton was honored in the HBU Sports Hall of Honor which was established in 1997 to honor former student athletes, coaches, and administrators for their achievements and contributions in athletics. The Houston Christian University Athletics Hall of Honor honored Ralton showcasing and highlighting his excellence within the Athletic program. As a recipient, Ralton was placed in the HBU Walk of Fame.
In 1982 to 1987 Ralton played professional basketball in Edinburgh Scotland for Murray International Metals as a dual national. Ralton represented Great Britian in the 1984 Summer Olympics.
Ralton was married to Yvette Orjales, on July 2, 2016, and they lived together in San Antonio and then, later Houston, Texas. Ralton has one son from his first marriage; Julian Way and a son in love from his current marriage; Axel Bermudez.
Ralton is survived by his loving wife Yvette, his son Julian, his son in love Axel, his four grandchildren; Elysia Way, Noah Way, Ava Way, and Apollo Way, his parents; Donald and Kathleen, his brother; Ronald and his wife, Yvone, and his sister; Deborah. Ralton also leaves to cherish his memory of his nieces, nephews, cousins, and other love-ones/friends.
Ralton had a love for basketball and enjoyed teaching others to become skilled in their game through mentoring and encouraging. Ralton and his wife love to travel to new places and to meet new people. In the past few years Ralton was passionate about studying and reading the Bible, including exploring the Interlinear NIV Hebrew-English Old Testament (Bible).
A going away home celebration service is scheduled for April 6, 2024, Saturday at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, Texas 78218. Visitation: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and Service: 12:00 PM- 1:30 PM. A gathering is held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Rev Allen M. Ford, Pastor of Grace First Baptist Church will officiate the ceremony.
