It is with great sadness that the family of Rafael Duarte Garza, Jr. announce his passing on Saturday, February 11, 2023.
He is preceded by Rafael Garza Sr. and Aurora Duarte Garza. Richard Garza, Guadalupe Garza and Demetrio Garza.
Fondly remembered by, Theresa Segovia Garza, his loving wife of 55 years. As well as his children Xavier (Patricia) Garza Sr., Rita Marie Garza, Lawrence (Renee) Garza, David Rafael (Rebecca) Garza, Tina Segovia (Hernan) Berghella, Sara Segovia (Luis) Reyes. His 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Ann Garza, Xavier Garza Jr., Jade Amelia Renee Garza and 1 great grandchild Logan Rafael Garza. His siblings, Gloria Rodriguez, twin sister Dolores Nanez, Frederico Garza, Alicia Gamez, Louis Galindo, Helen Bludau, Robert Garza and numerous nieces and nephews.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1969. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church where he was a fourth-degree knight of the Knights of Columbus. Because of his life long love for singing, he was also a member of the San Fernando Mariachi choir. His passion for playing his guitar brought enjoyment to all our family gatherings.
He will be greatly missed.
