Phyllis was born on Feb 16, 1923, in Larned, Ks to Donna Alta Hopkins and Lawrence M. Wonsetler as their sixth and last child. She grew up as the daughter of a dairy farmer, thus performed many farm chores as a young child, and rode her pony 5 miles to school between the ages of 6 and 12.
In September, 1943 she married Albert when he returned from the European theater of World War II, where he had flown P38 Lightnings for the Army Air Corps. Subsequently they had four sons: David Alan (Tulsa, OK), Douglas Kirk (San Antonio), Gregory Lynn (Baton Rouge, LA), and Bruce Wesley (Austin).
Phyllis and Albert spent 21 years in the US Air Force, then retired in Austin, TX, in 1961. Later they moved to Canyon Lake for their final retirement home. After Albert’s death in 1994, Phyllis moved to San Antonio.
She is survived by her four sons and their wives: David and Anne, Douglas and Christina, Gregory and Gary, and Bruce and Tracy.
In addition to her four sons, Phyllis is survived by her 13 grandchildren: Allison Graeme Fell-Berger, Jonathan Wesley Fell, Brian Douglas Fell, Charles Wesley Fell, Courtney Paige Fell, Lindsey Brooke Fell, Brittany Morgan Fell, Payton Anderson DiFalco, Gregory Lynn Fell, Jr, Whitney Morgan Fell, Case Wesley Fell, Hagen Harrison Fell, McKenzie Avery Fell.
She and Albert are also survived by nine great grandchildren: Griffin Drake Fell, Evelyn Ryan Fell-Berger, Noah Adam Puckett, Katelyn Avery Fell, Charles Wesley Fell, Jr, Sienna Marie Fell, Luke Avery Fell, Greyson Douglas Fell, and Evelyn Frances DiFalco.
Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00, December 9, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home, San Antonio. A memorial service will be at 1:00 pm, December 10 at Sunset Funeral Home, with the burial to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
