Our beloved Mother, Petra (Patsy) Garza Chavez, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at the age of 88. She was the youngest of four children born to Jose and Ventura R. Garza on July 25, 1934 in San Antonio, Texas.
Throughout her life she enjoyed listening to music and loved to dance. Patsy was employed at Aladdin Carpet and Drapery Company for 20 years. After retiring she babysat her grandchildren and great-grandchildren for many years. Mom enjoyed eating out with her family at various restaurants, but cooking meals for us was her passion. She was known for her delicious Macaroni Salad and her awesome Cream of Wheat (atolé). During the holidays, she loved having everyone together at her house to share a meal; especially on Mother's Day. She always cooked her specialty (a roast) while listening to Oldies or Tejano music and waiting for her family to arrive. Mom also enjoyed watching her Telenovelas, and TBN and listening to Christian music. Most of all she enjoyed sitting on her porch swing while watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play in her yard. We feel incredibly blessed for having shared so many wonderful years with our Mom, and are eternally thankful for all the wonderful memories. Mother, you’ll be immensely missed, but will forever live in our hearts. We love you Mom. Rest in Peace.
Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Richard S. Espinosa and Florentino Y. Chavez, her son Richard (Ricky) Espinosa Jr., and her sister, Josephine R. Garza. She is survived by her daughters Janie E. Moreno (†Paul), Edna E. Trevino (Edward), Dorothy E. Gonzalez (Richard), and her sons Roger G. Chavez (Blanca Perez), and Rodney G.
