After graduating high school, Penny worked in the commercial insurance field for the same employer for 30 plus years; and where early in her career she met her husband of 45 years, Patrick Schober, on a service trip to his dealership, Riata Cadillac. She thrived in the insurance field and prided herself as a career woman with a brand new 1978 Camaro. When taking time off, she pursued another lifelong passion: sewing. From being a young girl in school making her own everyday clothes and dresses; to later in life as a part time side job making formal and wedding/bridesmaid dresses for friends and anyone seeking her talent. Penny loved fashion. She'd sew everyday clothes for school, for her children, and special occasions such as Halloween costumes and extracurricular school activities uniforms. When she wasn't working or sewing, she enjoyed bowling, bike riding, good old fashioned yard work, exercising (Jazzercise classes), cooking and baking. She loved classic cars and visiting classic car shows, where there would be live bands/music and burgers, family nights with board games (Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, and Pictionary) with chip and dips, family get togethers (birthdays, anniversaries, 4th of July barbecues, Thanksgiving and Christmas always had laughable, lovable, priceless shenanigans there), vacationing (Colorado ski trips, Hawaii, and Vegas).
Penny was fun and genuine, She was artistic, creative, active, driven, smart, loving, caring, an amazing cook/baker, and took pride in everything that she did. She would always say that if you are going to take the time to do something, do it right the first time. Penny's life revolved around her family. She made sure that everyone she met felt loved, included, and welcomed. She was our best friend, confidant, and number one supporter. She always put her family first, and would do and go through anything to make sure that we were taken care of, our needs met, wants and goals were fulfilled, and made sure we always felt loved. She was always positive and loved to crack jokes. There will not be a day that goes by that she will not be missed. Her love for us, like ours for her, is never ending.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James C. (Jim) & Georgia A. Reid. Penny is survived by her husband, Patrick H. Schober; children Camille Schober-Gonzalez (Christopher), Melanie A. Schober, Kyle R. Schober; Sisters Rexann George (Stan), Teresa Oliver (Kenneth), and Pamela Margozewitz (Raymond D.); niece and nephews Eric George (Karen), Christine Bucholz (Tim), Jason Oliver (Alyce), Josh Oliver (Jessica), Mathew Oliver, and Hope Backman.
