Surrounded by her loving family, Peggy Proffitt passed away peacefully on August 27, 2018. Peggy was born in Ft. Riley, Kansas to James and Helen Mayes. She grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from Southeastern State University in Durant, Oklahoma. Peggy married Larry Proffitt in June, 1969. They lived in Rota, Spain until 1973, when Larry was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy. Settling in San Antonio, Peggy was Business Manager for Holy Spirit Catholic Church for 28 years. She retired in 2008 to spend time with her beloved granddaughters.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Larry Proffitt, daughter Julie and boyfriend Darin, son Michael and wife Courtney, grandchildren Sophie and Clara, sister Lynda Bylsma, and brother Harry Mayes.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 30, 2018, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Sunset Northwest. On Friday, August 31, a viewing will be held at the funeral home from 8:00 – 10:00 AM, followed by Peggy’s Memorial Service commencing at 10:00 AM. A private burial is scheduled at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
