With great sadness we share the passing of Peggy Jo Johnson, who left us unexpectedly in her home on February 10, 2024, at the age of 64. She was a cherished daughter, preceded in death by her loving parents, Robert R. and Marian Johnson.
Peggy was born on August 6, 1959, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and lived a life full of remarkable achievements and meaningful connections. She graduated from John Marshall High School in 1977 and went on to graduate cum laude from Trinity University in 1981, where she was a proud member of Kappa Psi Omega. Throughout her career, Peggy made significant contributions as a marketing specialist in the fields of travel and catalog at USAA, played a pivotal role in launching U-Verse at AT&T, and concluded her career at Cornerstone Home Lending.
Apart from her professional endeavors, Peggy was deeply involved in her community. She was proud to be a part of the Ol’ Shavano Chapter of the DAR and generously volunteered her time mentoring high school students and caring for feral cats. Her passion for helping others and making a difference was evident in everything she did.
Peggy's interests were as diverse as they were enriching. She found joy in reading, expanding her knowledge through exploration and travel, creating culinary delights through baking, and expressing her creativity as an exceptional writer and artist. Her quick wit, humor, laughter, and unparalleled knowledge made her a beacon of light in the lives of many. Peggy had a unique ability to solve any problem and make everyone feel comfortable in her presence, no matter the circumstances.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories cherished by her surviving family: her brother Bob (Robin) Johnson of Blanco, sister Kathleen (Kerry) Garner of San Antonio, beloved nephews Rick (Beth) Johnson, (Reece and Rylie) of California, Ryan (Aleisha) Johnson of San Antonio, Matthew (Lauren) Garner of San Antonio, and Mark (Monica) Garner of Austin as well as her beloved cousin Joanne Prince of San Antonio and Aunt Jean Johnson and cousins Trish Epler, Jeff Johnson, Donna Etter and Candy White of Pennsylvania.
A memorial service in honor of Peggy will be held at University Methodist Church located at 5084 De Zavala Road in San Antonio, TX, on April 14 at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the church or animal shelter of your choice, or simply honor Peggy’s spirit by living out the words she lived by:
"IF SOMEONE NEEDS A SMILE, GIVE THEM YOURS"
Peggy Jo Johnson's legacy will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to have known her. May her kind soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all whose lives she touched.
