

Pedro Valdez, better known as Pete, entered into his eternal rest on January 28, 2024 at the age of 95. Pete’s journey began on August 1, 1928 in Floresville, Texas to parents, Paulina Miranda and Julio Valdez.
Pete worked at the Sunshine Biscuit Company for 20 years. The Valdez family received baked goods often. Pete also worked at Central Warehouse for approximately 10 years. Finally, Pete worked at the Roeglein Meat Packing Company for 15 years, sometimes doing duty as chief taster. Pete’s passion was with his conjunto band. He was the lead guitarist and vocalist for Pete Miranda y Las Orcas. The group played all over San Antonio in weddings and night clubs. Pete’s conjunto was the first to play downtown San Antonio in the 1950’s. The band was able to record a single record where Pete’s voice shined.
Pete met Maria De la Luz Sanchez while she was attending Fox Tech, the two started a relationship and were married on May 9, 1954. Together they raised two daughters, Edna and Elsa. Both Pete and Mary loved to travel and every year they would take their daughters out on a vacation to places like, Corpus Christi, Garner State Park, and New Orleans. Also, Pete and Mary traveled outside of Texas to Mexico, Las Vegas, Denver, and one of Pete’s favorite trips was to Hawaii.
He will be reunited in heaven with his parents, Paulina and Julio Valdez; spouse, Maria De La Luz Sanchez Valdez; and numerous extended family.
Pete’s memory will forever live in his loving daughters, Edna Lomas and husband Ramiro and Elsa Nalley and husband Donald; grandchildren, Ambrosio (Beau) Rodriguez, Andres (Dru) Rodriguez, Matthew Nalley and Krysti Cooper. Great-grandchildren, Jordan Rodriguez, Lexi Rodriguez, Dylan Rodriguez, Austyn Rodriguez, Edie Jeau Rodriguez and Iris Jae Rodriguez; great-great-granddaughter Rilee Rodriguez; and numerous extended family and friends.
