Pedro was born in Morelia Michoacan,Mexico. At the age of 7 he came to the United States. Several years later he returned to Mexico, where he attended the seminary. Due to family obligations he returned to the United States and became an American Citizen. He faithfully served in the United States Air Force. He graduated from and was inducted into the Hall of fame from Southwestern College. Upon graduation he moved to Washington DC to work for The United States Postal Service. In 1965 with the creation of EEOC, he became one of its first agents and went on to become Deputy Director in Denver, Colorado and Director in San Antonio, Texas. He retired in 2012 after 52 years.
Pedro was appointed to the Kansas Advisory Committee to the US Commission on Civil Rights, a member of the GI Forum, Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Colorado, and served on the Zoning Committee of Leon Valley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel and Francisca; twin brothers. Gabriel, Francisco, Alfonso; sisters, Lydia Moreno and Valentina Savala. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Roberta; sons: Pedro(Delia), Crisanto (Brittany), Gabriel, Pedro David, Ricardo (Lisa); daughters: Mary Lopez (Michael), Jessica Robinson, Anna Maria, Felicia Guzman (Rudy); grandchildren: Danielle Dowell (Mike), Raymond Duran (Brandi), Chantelle Duran, Gabriela, Pedro, and Alejandro Esquivel, Brianna Ramirez, Donovan Guzman, Ayden and Ava Esquivel; great-grandchildren: Pedro David, Gabriel, Nathan , Antonio and Aralynn Esquivel, Emma Dowell, Jake Dowell, Raymond Duran, Zyrah Duran, Amaya Duran; sisters, Mary "Lupe", Marge Rygg (Kerry), honored nephews: Raymond Savala (Elizabeth), Alfred (Debbie), Charles; nieces, Mary Helen, Angie Mendoza (Francisco); and several other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 11,2018 from 5:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.A procession will depart the funeral home on Wednesday, September 12,2018 at 9:30 a.m. to celebrate a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at St. Luke’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:30a.m. in Shelter 3.
